TEEN ART CLASSES
for 9-12 + 13-17 yrs
Creatively Wild’s popular teen program of after-school art classes inspires and nurtures artistic talent from its early stages to develop professional best practices. Young artists build a solid foundation of professional-level techniques while being introduced to new concepts and inspiration. Our curriculum supports and develops real progress by equipping students with the tools they need to become the artists they want to be.
HOW CLASSES WORK:
Flexible sign-up options
For the most beneficial experience, sign up for a full semester (prorated once begun). Payment plans are available. Classes meet once a week for the semester and are drop-off only.
Can’t commit or know you have travel planned? We offer single-day sign-ups (purchase multiple around your dates).
Scheduling and Rescheduling
Our registration system cuts off 12 hours ahead of class and prior registration and payment are required.
Need to reschedule a class? Submit a rescheduling ticket at least 24 hours before class time ($25 fee) and we’ll book you for a new date. If you know you’ll be out of town or unavailable on certain dates, book single classes instead!
If you need to reschedule an entire semester, email us and we’ll reschedule you ($75 fee).

STORYTELLING ILLUSTRATION:
Comic Book + Graphic NovelS
Drawing forms the foundation for all visual arts training and is essential before moving on to painting. In this beginner drawing course, teens study best practices and classical drawing exercises and techniques to develop their ability. Learn to achieve accurate proportion and linear perspective, shading, values, and develop an eye for line and form. This essential drawing course is perfect for teens interested in the visual arts. Return students are very much encouraged in this class.
BEGINNER DRAWING + ILLUSTRATION
Interested in graphic art styles? In this class, learn to build visual language tools with storyboarding techniques. We examine graphic novel art, movies, and TV and examine how each scene works through panel-to-panel illustration. If you are interested in graphic art media and cartooning, this course will set you up with a strong foundation.
GRAFFITI + STREET ART
Creatively Wild’s quintessential graffiti class gives teens an inside look into the exciting world of street art styles and processes. Gathering inspiration from a whole host of modern master street artists from the past and present, roll up your sleeves and dive in. Work with paint markers, spray paint, and multi-media projects. This exciting course is excellent for young adventurers who love to experiment with new media in modern art form.
We use non-toxic water-based spray paints.
BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO PAINTING:
ACRYLIC, WATERCOLOR, OILS
If you are new to painting, this class will serve as a great introduction to each of the different painting mediums: Acrylic, Watercolor, Oils. All three paint mediums have very different application processes and elements that achieve very different results.
In this course, we will demo a range of brush applications and techniques as well as go through essential color mixing. learn how to incorporate textures to interpret features, light, shadows and value. Subject matter can be rendered from a photo or image: a portrait, a photo or landscape or a still life object. After you pick your subject matter, you can best match it with the appropriate medium that will serve it best: bringing you different results in a watercolor rendition, oils or acrylic.
PORTFOLIO PREPARATION
Dreaming about a visual arts career? Are you preparing a portfolio application? Creatively Wild helps you build up a unique body of personal art work in this art class, perfect for after school time on your art. Learn how to choose personal subject matter to make your portfolio stand out from the rest and get the results you dream of. Learn professional-level techniques that will serve them for years to come. This art course can be designed around the exact specifications from the specific school you are applying to, Please bring the guidelines to your first class to discuss and plan a course with your tutor.
BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO DIGITAL ART
Creatively Wild’ beginner’s guide to Digital Art sets students up with the basics utilizing the versatile Procreate App, a leading creative application made for iPad. Students learn how to use this software to its full potential. Create imagery using your own art work or pictures, layer, create depth and/or movement or transform objects or subjects simultaneously and explore lots of other features like researching awesome backgrounds and blur filters to create depth and movement. Examine a huge variety of styles and techniques!
HOW TO DRAW + PAINT PEOPLE
FACES + FIGURES
The human face and figure is a fascinating study but can seem intimidating at first. In this course, we help demystify this process with preliminary drawing exercises before moving on to fully realized paintings on canvas. Develop compositions for dynamic poses and examine different angles: profile view, 3/4 views, and non-traditional angles, like upshots, extreme close-ups + action poses to give our subjects a realistic feel. This is also an excellent class for students working on portfolios, thinking about a career in the visual arts who are building a body of work and are up for a challenge!
BEGINNER OIL PAINTING
Oil painting is an exciting rich medium but a much longer process to learn, it can be intimidating at first as the paint remains wet for longer, but the benefits of this allows students more time to manipulate their work. In our full class course, learn how to create original finished oil painting(s) on canvas using personal subject matter that inspire you. We will experiment with different styles- work in realism or explore a more abstract interpretation of your subject. Delve into techniques: color mixing, brush applications, textures. This class works for beginners and is good for teens building up a portfolio or interested in a fine arts career.
BEGINNER ANIME + MANGA ART
Develop your own comic book style in the exciting Anime and Manga tradition. Explore a variety of styles and genres including: Chibi, Shoju, Shounen + more! Gain confidence in technical and figurative sketching, studying anatomy and physical features. Learn the importance of composition and how to set your figures in dynamic poses to drive tension and narrative. Create and design your own comic book characters: human or animal and garner tricks like manipulating facial features, anatomical and musculature lines, to give individuality. This class, gives students the opportunity to practice essential technical drawing and illustration skills while working in pencil, ink and learning color theory.
